Introduction: Despite the potential of printed educational materials as health promotion strategies, evidence regarding their effectiveness among older adults in the Brazilian context remains limited. Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a printed educational booklet in increasing physical activity among older adults. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a mixed-methods approach was conducted with 76 older adults participating in physical activity groups at three Primary Health Care Units in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil. The intervention involved the distribution of a validated booklet containing guidance on active lifestyles and a home-based exercise program, accompanied by explanations provided by trained professionals. Participants were given four weeks to autonomously engage in the program, with semi-supervised support during weekly group meetings. Data collection included daily logs and a self-report instrument on adherence and perceived barriers. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square, and Fisher’s Exact tests. Focus group discussions were examined through content analysis. Results: The booklet was read by 90% (n = 68) of participants, with a high level of comprehension (97%). The retention rate was 53% (n = 40), and full adherence was observed in 32% (n = 24) of participants. Among adherent individuals, 60% (n = 14) performed the exercises at least twice per week. Conclusion: Although full adherence rates were moderate, the findings suggest that the intervention holds promise for enhancing engagement in physical activity among older adults.
