Introduction: Permanent Health Education is a fundamental strategy for improving healthcare practices by integrating learning and professional practice into the daily routine of health services. In the hospital setting, the nursing team plays a central role in organizing care, making it relevant to understand how Brazilian scientific literature has addressed this topic. Objective: To identify, describe, and interpret characteristics of Brazilian scientific production, expressed in theses and dissertations from stricto sensu graduate programs, addressing Continuing Health Education for hospital nursing teams. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted based on academic production from stricto sensu graduate programs, identified through the Theses and Dissertations Catalog of the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Dissertations and theses addressing Continuing Health Education in the hospital setting, with a focus on nursing, were included. The identified studies were subjected to descriptive analysis of their academic, methodological, and thematic characteristics. The findings were presented in tables, analyzed, and discussed in light of the literature. Results: A total of 31 studies were identified, of which 11 were included in this review. Master's dissertations and qualitative studies predominated. Academic production was concentrated in the Southern and Southeastern regions of Brazil and recognized Continuing Health Education as a strategy for improving the quality of care, strengthening management, and promoting patient safety. Conceptual and methodological gaps persist, as well as challenges related to work overload and the integration of management and educational processes. Conclusion: Continuing Health Education constitutes a strategic component for improving hospital nursing; however, its consolidation requires stronger conceptual foundations, institutional integration, and an expansion of research across different regional contexts.
