A paracentese é capaz de alterar a função pulmonar de pacientes cirróticos com ascite?

Introdução: Sabe-se que a ascite se destaca como origem de limitações nutricionais, físicas e funcionais do paciente cirrótico. O reflexo negativo da ascite na alteração da pressão intra-abdominal e intratorácica fundamenta a importância da investigação da função pulmonar desses pacientes nos momentos pré e após a paracentese. Objetivo: Comparar a função pulmonar de pacientes cirróticos com ascite, antes e após a paracentese. Métodos: Estudo observacional com nove pacientes cirróticos realizaram paracentese no ambulatório de hepatologia do Hospital Universitário Polydoro Ernani de São Thiago, da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Os pacientes foram submetidos à avaliação da capacidade de exercício por meio do teste de caminhada de 6 minutos (TC6). A avaliação antropométrica e da função pulmonar, foi realizada pré e pós paracentese. Para análise estatística foi realizado o teste de Shapiro-Wilk para avaliação da distribuição dos dados e teste de Wilcoxon para comparação da função pulmonar. Resultados: Não houve diferença estatística na função pulmonar pré e pós a paracentese e na distância percorrida no TC6 comparado aos indivíduos saudáveis. Conclusões: A paracentese isoladamente parece não alterar a função pulmonar. Sendo assim, importante investigar os efeitos das terapias de reexpansão pulmonares associadas ao tratamento clínico nessa população.
