Objective: To analyze the characteristics such as prevalence of gender, age, predominance of the affected side, type of injury (acute or chronic), cause and medical approach in individuals with calcaneal tendon rupture treated at the physiotherapy service of the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (IOT-FMUSP), in order to determine equivalence with the literature. Methods: Descriptive and cross-sectional analysis of medical records of patients treated at the physiotherapy service of the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo from 2014 to 2019 with calcaneal tendon rupture. The following variables were analyzed: age, gender, affected side, mechanism of injury, medical treatment and length of physiotherapy treatment. Results: Analysis of the 88 cases showed that the average age was 39.5 years, 78 cases (88.6%) were male, 49 cases (55.68%) were on the left side and the injuries were mostly acute with 71 cases (80.7%). As for the main cause of the injury, sports practice stood out with 68 cases (77.27%), soccer being the main sport with 47 cases (53.40%). The most commonly chosen treatment method was surgery in 81 cases (92.04%), and the minimally invasive technique was chosen in 57 cases (64.77%). The average physiotherapy treatment time was 4 months. Conclusion: Calcaneal tendon rupture was more common in men of working age who played recreational sports, especially soccer.
