Correlación entre incontinencia urinaria y polineuropatía periférica sin diabetes en mujeres con obesidad grados II y III

Resumen

Objetivo: La obesidad y su fuerte vínculo con la incontinencia urinaria (IU) han sido ampliamente documentados en la literatura. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la prevalencia de IU y polineuropatía (PNP) en mujeres con obesidad de clases II y III y explorar posibles asociaciones.

Métodos: Doscientas once mujeres se sometieron al Cuestionario de Consulta Internacional sobre Incontinencia - Versión Corta (ICIQ-SF), la Escala de Síntomas de Neuropatía (NSS) y el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física (IPAQ) abreviado, además de mediciones antropométricas, pruebas de laboratorio y evaluación ginecológica. Se compararon las puntuaciones de IU y los síntomas de PNP mediante las pruebas de Mann-Whitney, Spearman y Chi-cuadrado de Pearson (δ²).

Resultados: La prevalencia de mujeres con IU y obesidad de clases II y III fue del 69,6%, y la presencia de síntomas de PNP fue del 58,8%. En el análisis univariado, la IU no mostró asociación con la PNP (p = 0,374), la inactividad física (p = 0,895), el tabaquismo (p = 0,630), la menopausia (p = 0,134) ni la paridad (p = 0,073). La PNP tampoco se asoció con el sedentarismo (p = 0,058), el tabaquismo (p = 0,438), la menopausia (p = 0,225) ni la paridad (p = 0,441). No se observaron diferencias significativas en las puntuaciones de IU (p = 0,372) y PNP (p = 0,179) entre las clases II y III de obesidad. La edad mostró una correlación significativa con el ICIQ (p = 0,007) y la NSS (p = 0,008). La IU se correlacionó positivamente con el número de partos normales (p < 0,032).

Conclusión: La IU y la PNP en mujeres con obesidad de clases II y III sin DM no se asociaron entre sí ni con otras variables, pero sí con la edad avanzada y el parto normal.
