Abstract

Introduction: CVD can be triggered by risk factors. These risk factors can reduce muscle strength, functional capacity and precipitate the fatigue process. Assessing the strength of these muscles seems interesting to understand more about this process of muscle fatigue. Objective: Correlate the variables obtained by the isokinetic dynamometer (DI) with the CPET peak oxygen consumption. Methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional and prospective study, carried out with 21 individuals of both sexes (08 men and 13 women), with a mean age of 50.01±4.5 years; mean BMI of 32.45±5.9; who performed incremental CPET on the cycle ergometer had limited symptoms or even loss of cadence. They carried out the assessment of bilateral thigh muscles at angular speeds of 60°/s, 120°/s and 240°/s in isometric and concentric/concentric modes using the DI on Biodex®. Results: VO2peak values 13.0±1.5 mL/kg/min) did not have a statistically significant correlation with peak torque for right knee extension (r=0.37; p=0.09) and extension left knee (r=0.21; p=0.37); however, there was a moderate and significant correlation between VO2 and peak torque for flexion of the right knee (r=0.60; p=0.003) and also between VO2 and peak torque for flexion of the left knee (r=0,46; p=0.03). Conclusion: There was a correlation between VO2 and peak torque for right knee flexion and left knee flexion.
