Introduction: The aging process causes disorders in various tissues, particularly notable in the skin tissue. As a result, the most obvious changes manifest themselves in the form of hyperpigmentation. Such changes can have negative impacts on quality of life, especially for women. However, there is a growing search for aesthetic procedures, such as chemical peeling to treat these changes. Objective: To verify the influence of peeling for the treatment of facial blemishes in elderly women. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study, which took place in two moments in a physiotherapy school clinic. In the first phase, a literature search was carried out to develop a theoretical framework, using publications in English and Portuguese in databases such as PubMed, Scielo and Medline between the period 2015 and 2023. In the second phase, a protocol was applied for the use of chemical peeling in elderly women from September to November 2022. Results: The studied sample consists of 32 elderly women, who have 1 to 3 children and reside in the metropolis of Vitória, mixed race and with complete/incomplete high school education. They have combination skin type and do not use sunscreen or cosmetics. The majority of the sample had spots on their skin and no skin lesions. Still, the majority do not have acne. They stated that they had not previously undergone facial aesthetic treatments, had an omnivorous diet and noticed the appearance of facial blemishes at 45-50 years of age. It was noticeable that the elderly women who underwent peeling showed a visible reduction in hyperpigmentation, a reduction in both the extent and intensity of the spots, especially in the areas around the nose and eyes. In addition, there was a general lightening of the facial skin tone, resulting in a more luminous appearance. Conclusion: Chemical peeling treatment combined with the use of daily sunscreen brings good results for facial age spots and increases the quality of life.
