Abstract

Introduction: The respiratory infection caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), which emerged in the second half of 2019, that was transmitted to humans from animals, is responsible for more than 6 million deaths worldwide. Objective: To analyze the impact of post-COVID-19 syndrome on the quality of life of individuals in the city of Santa Cruz-RN. Methods: This is an observational, analytical, descriptive and quantitative study. Collections and assessments were carried out in person through a semi-structured interview and application of the Brazilian version of the 36-item Short-Form Survey (SF-36) quality of life questionnaire to assess health-related quality of life. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to assess the normality of variables and the Mann-Whitney test was used to compare non-parametric variables. Results: The sample consisted of 53 volunteers, 56.6% (30) female, with a median age of 26 [20-58] years, and 32% (17) of students. There was no significant relationship between health-related quality of life and long COVID. Conclusion: The passing of months did not interfere with the health-related quality of life of individuals after the acute phase of COVID-19.
