Assessment of the sexual function of CrossFit® and sedentary women - a comparative study

Objective: To analyse the sexual function of CrossFit® female athletes and compare with the sexual function of sedentary women. Methods: This is a comparative cross-sectional survey. The Female Sexual Function Index - FSFI questionnaire was used to analyze sexual function. Fifty women participated in the research, divided equally between the two groups, the CrossFit® group and the Sedentary group. The variables analyzed were: sexual desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, sexual satisfaction, pain during intercourse, total score of sexual function. Results: The CrossFit® group showed superior sexual function in the domains of desire, lubrication, orgasm, pain and total score compared to the sedentary group. Only arousal and satisfaction the average of the CrossFit® group was lower. Conclusion: the CrossFit® group showed a relatively superior sexual function compared to the Sedentary group, but no significant difference was found between the groups.
