Introduction: Auscultatory technique performed in the upper limbs, in the sitting position, is the most used. However, it is also possible to measure in the lower limbs and in the standing or lying positions. Objective: to analyze the scientific evidence available in the literature on the indirect blood pressure measurement in the lower limbs. Methods: integrative review withsearch strategy using Academic Search Premier, CINAHL, Embase, LILACS, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, with the terms Ankle, Arterial Pressure, Blood Pressure, Blood Pressure Determination, Leg, Lower Extremity, Thigh and their synonyms. Added manual search in the references of included studies. Results: the final sample consisted of 23 primary studies divided into three thematic categories: the first refers to comparison of blood pressure values; the second to the comparison of blood pressure measurement methods; and the third to recommendations. It was found that the blood pressure values in the lower limbs have an average difference of 11.2 to 36.5 millimeters of mercury when compared to the arm. In addition, the technique performed on the lower limbs causes discomfort and pain. Conclusion: the ankle and thigh are viable alternatives in cases where the indirect blood pressure measurement cannot be performed in the arm. However, the above mentioned option should not be used as a replacement for the arm, due to the discrepancy of the values found and its importance in clinical practice.
